Good Friday Noon Service

  • St. Andrew Episcopal Church 31 Park Avenue Grayslake, IL, 60030 United States

This month we explore Good Friday, the day Christ was crucified for us. It is one of two fast days recognized in the Episcopal church. The services this day take place in a “bare” church where the altar has been stripped and all the crosses are covered after the Maundy Thursday service the evening prior.

It is also our custom at St. Andrew to have two services (noon and 7:00 pm) and walking of the Stations of the Cross. This year we will have the Stations at 1:00 pm—during the time that Jesus was crucified.

On Good Friday we bring out a plain cross and it is appropriate to come forward toward the end of the service to pray at the cross. Communion is not consecrated on Good Friday, but may be administered out of the reserved sacrament (we do this). Please plan to join us this year on April 14th for this most meaningful of services to remember what Christ did for us on the Cross.
