Return to school and Homecoming Sunday

As we approach the month of August I am reminded it will soon be time to return to school. Which reminds me of Ms. Mary’s Preschool restarting soon, and Elijah Mantle’s back to school shoe drive and the program year for Sunday school and the church restarting with Homecoming Sunday September 18th.

This month Elijah’s Mantle Ministry is reminding us about the shoe drive on August 6th. They moved the date from the third Saturday to the first Saturday of the month in response to many schools opening mid-August. We especially need a lot of extra help the morning of the 6th so please sign up to help that morning or set up for it the day before. Thank you to all who have helped, donated shoes, socks, or funds for this worthy cause.

Remember the office hours when Charles is in are 9-12 Monday–Friday. I continue to take Friday as my day off but I am often in the other afternoons as well as the mornings but call first so I’m in when you come. I take some communions out and have meetings certain days. Please consider using the Prayer Garden for some of your quiet time and prayer time. It is beautiful and quite peaceful especially at this time of year.

A huge thank you to the Vestry, especially the subcommittee that researched and supervised the installation of our new front windows—they are lovely and work well. So far we have covered the cost of 7 of the 12 windows and we continue to take donations to honor or commemorate those of your choosing. There will be a memorial plaque on the wall with the donors. Those who choose to give a whole window will have an individual plaque near your chosen window.

I have been in major planning mode for the rest of the Pentecost and Advent Seasons. For a peek at the upcoming classes and events in the upcoming months please take a look at the “Save the Date” List later in this newsletter. Please have a wonderful, safe and blessed time the rest of your summer. Take some time to pray and let’s all pray for peace and an end to the violence we have seen this summer.
