Happy New Year! Thanks to all the people who prepared for and participated in all the Christmas services, Charles in the office, the altar guild, the choir, the children’s Christmas Pageant offering and, the acolytes, the LEMS, and Ushers and anyone else who helped. Our Blue Christmas this year was very meaningful to the group who attended on December 17th.
Thank you to all the volunteers who help all year round in all the church ministries. I want to especially thank my office manager Charles Pinkham, Jim Murchison our Sexton, and PJ Jarvis who took over from Sue Anderson as our Treasurer, and all who helped with anything at the church for all their hard work this year. Special thanks to our 2017 Vestry led by Wardens Mike Rollins and Jim George, and members, Jim Jobes, Betty Garrett, Jerry Kuiper, Mike Cummings, Bill Gatewood, Richard Wagner, and Sheila Hoekstra. Thank you to Deb Walsh, the Acolyte Coordinator and Scrip program coordinator. Thank you also to John Jameson who schedules our Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) and to Colleen Rollins who leads our Lectors. Thank you to Lori Miller who leads our Altar Guild. Thank you to all who helped revitalize our library and to Barb Laycock and Lori Miller who helped in the office. Thank you to all who care for our grounds and building. Thank you to all who lead and to all those who volunteer for all the ministries that make St. Andrew work.
Elijah’s Mantle has done an amazing job with this ministry over the years. So many of you (and others outside our church) donated and supported this ministry. As the ministry concluded last month we give thanks for all who donated, and all the Elijah’s Mantle volunteers led by Margie Jobes. Mark your calendar now for the annual church meeting on Sunday January 21—there will have a combined service at 9am followed by brunch coordinated by Denise Sawyer and meeting in the Parish Hall. All pledging members can vote and new Vestry representatives and a new Jr. Warden for the next year will be selected. All reports are due by January 8th , if they are to be included in the annual written report.
Please make a commitment to regularly attend and participate in our worship and life here at St. Andrew. I am excited about what opportunities God is bringing for you in the new year to worship and serve here at St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
I want to thank all of you for journeying with me in my ministry here at St. Andrew. You are more special to me than you know, and I will continue to follow your progress and pray for you. As I retire a few days after I write this last message to you I will treasure you all in my heart and I pray that your new rector will be exactly what you need as you go forward.
Peace and may God bless you in 2018.
